EPL: I feel bad for Ten Hag because Man Utd have turned into a graveyard, says Neville
Legendary Manchester United player Gary Neville alleged that the club had turned into a “graveyard for coaches and players.”
Neville also expressed sympathy for Man United manager Erik ten Hag in light of the team’s shaky start to the current campaign.
Tuesday’s Champions League match between United and Galatasaray ended in a 3-2 loss for United at Old Trafford.
They lost at home last weekend against Crystal Palace in the Premier League before losing to Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Following the consecutive losses, Ten Hag has been under increased pressure, with some Man United fans doubting whether the former Ajax coach is the ideal choice to take their team back to the top of the league.
Neville has, however, acknowledged that he feels bad about Ten Hag.
“I feel very sorry for the manager, I know a lot of people will say he’s got to do a lot better, but there are a lot of big problems at the club that managers have found over the last ten years,” Neville said on talkSPORT.
“I believe that underperforming teams and players will continue to exist until those issues are resolved. It has effectively turned into a cemetery for players and coaches.
In the past 10 years, relatively few players have excelled at Manchester United. When they joined the club, they were all outstanding players who were sought after by other clubs.
“They obtained these players from other teams, but when they joined Manchester United, they failed to succeed and underperformed, why is that?
We (United) need to fix it because it’s not culturally appropriate to accept players in the way that it should.
