The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, has expressed regret for the way he handled midfield player Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips had made just four Premier League appearances for the champions, none of which were starts.

As the January transfer market opens, the England international is already being linked to a move away from the Etihad.
“I’m not sure. I regret all I did to him. I sincerely apologise for the minutes I failed to provide him.
“It’s just that I have trouble seeing him on the team because of something I visualise.” I truly apologise. I have to be brutal, therefore I won’t say that.
“I wouldn’t care if someone made a big deal out of it.” Guardiola told the media on Friday, “I care about him because of the way he behaved with the team.”
