Andre Onana, the club’s summer acquisition, has come under fire from former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov for playing with an excessive amount of confidence.
In addition, Berbatov advised Onana to temper his arrogance a little after a rocky start to his Old Trafford tenure.
This comes following Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in their matchup in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
In an awful showing against the Turkish powerhouses, Onana added another misstep to his season’s long list of mistakes.
After a shaky pass ended up at Dries Mertens’ feet, the Cameroonian international gave the ball away, which resulted in Casemiro’s dismissal.
“His self-assurance is leading him to make errors. His body language versus Galatasaray makes that clear. He occasionally loses sight of the intelligent opponents he is playing. In order to trick Onana into making particular passes, other players will be watching how he plays. “Against Galatasaray, exactly that occurred,” Berbatov told Betfair.
“He needs to keep his self-assurance, but dial it back a bit and focus more on the players and their styles of play. I’ve seen Onana play before, and I enjoy how consistent he has been.
