Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has disclosed why he omitted Kai Havertz from the Gunners’ squad for their Premier League game against Brentford on New Year’s Day.

According to Arteta, Havertz was left out of the squad due to feeling unwell.

Havertz, known for his consistent performances with the North London club, is now the latest fitness concern as they prepare to face Gtech Community Stadium.

The German international was unexpectedly absent from the matchday squad, leaving fans questioning whether he might be injured.

Mikel Arteta has now satisfied the curiosity of fans.

Arteta mentioned to the Evening Standard, “Kai wasn’t feeling well; a few players experienced similar issues. That’s pretty normal. Declan [Rice] also had to leave early recently due to it being the second time he’s felt discomfort.”

“This month, we have nine games ahead of us and need to be cautious given the size of our squad.”
