Ian Wright, a former Arsenal player, has criticised Manchester United for their subpar performances thus far this year, claiming that Scott McTominay and Fred are not to blame.
At Old Trafford, clubs now have a chance to defeat Erik ten Hag’s team, according to Wright, who argued that the Red Devils have no strategy and management.
The 2023–2024 season has gotten off to a terrible start for Man United, as they have dropped six of their first ten games in all competitions.
With three victories and four losses, they are currently in 10th place in the Premier League.
The first two UEFA Champions League games that Man United played this season against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray both ended in losses.
Wright claimed on the Kelly and Wrighty Show that “Manchester United never try to pass through you, so anyone who goes to Old Trafford now will feel like they’ve got a chance” (via Mirror).
“They can’t blame McTominay and Fred anymore; their midfield is different and it’s not them. The result is the same. no match regulation. not managing the game.
“Everything is about getting the ball to [Marcus] Rashford, or Antony, winning a one-on-one, and getting the ball across,” he continued. Since I am unsure of their other tactics, I can only conclude that this is their actual game plan.
