Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has criticised Anthony Martial for the club’s lack of goals despite his participation in some powerful lineups.
Martial has been a member of Man United since 2015, when he made the switch from AS Monaco as a teenager.
When the 27-year-old moved from the French Ligue 1 team to Old Trafford, he became the most expensive teenager in British football history at the time.
The Frenchman, who was expected to become a future superstar, made his Man United debut by scoring a historic goal in a 3-1 victory over Premier League rival Liverpool.
Martial’s time at Man United has thus far been marred by injury problems and uneven play, so he hasn’t quite reached the heights that were anticipated upon his arrival.
Cole, however, feels that Martial has not yet shown how brilliant he is at Man United.
Martial has been a member of Manchester United for eight years, but he is yet to reach 100 goals. It is amazing. He plays centre forward for Manchester United and has been a part of various elite squads. Cole told Betfred that his league-best output was 17 goals.
He has had enough of time and opportunities to demonstrate his talent to United, but he has sadly been unable to do so.
Martial has 88 goals in 301 games for Man United in eight years across all competitions.
