Enugu’s governor declares, “We’ll go to the fullest extent possible,” rejecting the Tribunal’s ruling
Barr Chijioke Edeoga, a candidate for governor on the Labour Party’s ballot in the Enugu State election of 2023, has rejected the tribunal’s ruling.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Tribunal dismissed Edeoga’s case on Thursday and ruled that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor Peter Mbah had been legitimately elected.
However, in a statement made accessible to DAILY POST, the Edeoga/Nwokeabia Campaign Organisation vowed to appeal the ruling.
Spokesman for the Edeoga/Nwokeabia Campaign Organisation, Engr. George Ugwu, signed the statement.
“On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal delivered its ruling on the petition filed by the Labour Party and its candidate, Barr Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga, following the results of the state’s governorship elections on March 18, 2023, which were declared in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s candidate, Barr. Peter Mbah.
We want to let you know that the Labour Party and Chijioke Edeoga, its candidate, have acknowledged the verdict as it was handed down by the tribunal. We also want to let you know that we’re ready to appeal this verdict in the Court of Appeal and to the fullest degree allowed by law.
“With this in mind, we kindly request that all of our followers in the State and elsewhere in the nation maintain their composure, uphold the law, and conduct themselves in a lawful manner while going about their daily lives.
We still firmly believe in justice, and we’ll take every legal step to make sure that the dreams of the Enugu people, who showed up in large numbers to vote for Labour Party candidates on March 18, 2023, come true.
