Enugu polls: NSCDC reports the capture of over 100 thugs with AK-47s
Several alleged political thugs were apprehended in the Nsukka axis of Enugu State, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to Obasanjonews24, a united team of security personnel nabbed the criminals early on Saturday morning after falling for a con.
During the current elections for the State House of Assembly and Governor, Enugu has seen isolated acts of violence.
The arrest was reported to journalists in Enugu on Saturday by the NSCDC Enugu State Command’s spokesman, CSC Danny Iwuchukwu.
The several suspected thugs who had been detained, according to Iwuchukwu, had been properly turned over to the Nigeria Police in the Nsukka axis.
He said that the arrest was made early on March 18, Election Day, following a knowledgeable tip-off at a well-known hotel in Nsukka.
The political thugs were found to be in possession of AK-47 rifles and other lethal weapons, including as hand axes, clubs, and matchets.

The Enugu State Police Command has stated that there hasn’t been a bad security scenario related to the current elections in the state thus far.
The police, working with sister security services, were proactive, according to the Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.
“We have responded quickly to every security tip-off that has been passed on to us,” he said.
“The security agencies have continued to be proactive and decisive so that the peace-loving people of Enugu State would undoubtedly cast their votes in a peaceful, fair, and nonviolent way without intimidation or fear,” said the statement.
