The Enugu state police command announced on Sunday, April 14, that the Central Police Station (CPS) in Enugu successfully rescued a female victim who had been abducted.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was kidnapped on April 9, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, revealed that two suspects, Ejike Okorie and Christopher Kindness, both residents of Ameke Ngwo in Enugu North LGA, were apprehended in connection with the abduction.

Prior to the police’s intervention, an angry mob had intercepted the suspects, assaulted them, and set their criminal operational minibus on fire at the P-and-T bus stop on Okpara Avenue.

The suspects have confessed to their involvement in various criminal activities, including robbery, abduction, and fraudulent schemes targeting unsuspecting victims in Enugu.

Once the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be arraigned in court and prosecuted.

The state commissioner of police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the police operatives for their swift action in preventing the suspects from falling victim to jungle justice.

He emphasized the importance of citizens adhering to the law by reporting criminal activities to the police rather than taking matters into their own hands.
