Chijioke Okereke, a Labour Party member serving the Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
Okereke’s appeal against his previous dismissal by the Enugu State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal was denied by the court.

The Court decided in a verdict on Monday that there was insufficient evidence to support the appeal against the tribunal’s determination that Anayo Onwuegbu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was the legitimate election winner.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the tribunal had dismissed Okereke and confirmed Onwuegbu as the legitimate winner of the ballot held on February 25.
Since his name was not listed on the Labour Party’s candidate sheet, Onwuegbu had petitioned the tribunal to contest Okereke’s declaration, arguing that he was unfamiliar with the election.
