The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and the Labour Party, LP, petitioned the Enugu State Governorship Election claims Tribunal to challenge Barr Peter Mbah’s election as governor of Enugu State on March 18, 2023. The tribunal denied both claims.
The judgement, according to him, was a win for democracy and the residents of Enugu State.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Tribunal on Thursday rejected the two petitions submitted by the candidates for governor of the PRP, Elder Chris Agu, and the LP, Barr Chijioke Edeoga, for lack of merit.
Mbah expressed his congratulations to the losers and their political parties in his post-decision remarks.
Regardless of party affiliation, he pledged to engage with everyone, saying that the goal of building Enugu remained a common one.
The Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld the mandate that you freely gave to us on March 18, Mbah said in a speech to the people of the state at the Government House in Enugu. “This is another memorable day in the annals of our dear state,” Mbah remarked.
“Ndi Enugu has triumphed in this. Furthermore, democracy has won the day.
“Ndi Enugu has won a major win for development. It is a win for Ndi Enugu’s exponential expansion. It is an accomplishment for Enugu’s glory. The restriction on Monday stay-at-home is now successful.
It is also a victory for our steadfastness in our goal of restoring water to all of your homes in the ensuing 68 days.
Mbah expressed gratitude to God for enabling the victory and praised the tribunal for diligently examining the petitions and “coming out with fair and just decision that resonates with Ndi Enugu.”
“The verdict has further strengthened our confidence in the judiciary as the temple of justice and the last hope of the common man,” he claimed.
Mbah remarked, “There is time for everything under the sun. I extend my hands of fellowship to my adversaries. There is time for both striving and coming together. To serve Ndi Enugu, we all offered our services.
“The tribunal has affirmed and the people have spoken. There is a lot of work to be done, therefore if serving others was the driving force, it is time to put politics aside and work together.
“Our arms are out wide, and I call on my brothers, who ran this marathon alongside us, to join us in the difficult process of creating the new Enugu State of our dreams.
In a similar way, I urge all of our fans to be gracious in triumph. Politics is over now. When we were inaugurated on May 29, governance officially began. We must get together now.
In addition to stressing that the tribunal’s ruling was an inspiration to do more, Governor Mbah, who reaffirmed his commitment to keeping his campaign promises, urged the public to hold him accountable for keeping those commitments.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to the good people of Enugu State once more for having faith in us and giving us their support. They have supported us at every turn, above everything else.
“I want to reassure them that I will put all of my effort into helping them. As stated in our Statement of Purpose, I abide by every pledge I made during the campaign.
The Citizens Charter, which I signed on my first day in office, is something else I stand by. I should answer to the Enugu people. I’m not going to let them down,” he declared.
