The Enugu State Government has demolished a building allegedly used by kidnappers, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance security in the state.
The Enugu State government demolished two semi-detached bungalows on Friday, which were allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers.
Located in Nokpa near Alulu, Nike, within the Enugu East Local Government Area, the buildings were reportedly often used to detain kidnapping victims until ransom payments were made.

After the demolition, Uche Anya, Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, highlighted Governor Peter Mbah’s dedication to eliminating any traces of kidnappers and violent criminals in the area while speaking to reporters.
Anya declared that “this is open warfare and will continue until we eliminate the criminal elements.”
He stated that on September 27th, around 7 p.m., a group of hardened criminals kidnapped Chibuoke Charles and Mr. Emma Okeke near the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences (previously known as the Federal School of Dental Technology and Therapy) in Trans Ekulu, Enugu. They took both victims to their hideout, managed to secure ransom for one victim, and aimed to receive N40 million from the other victim’s family.
