A socio-political organisation called Amuma Support Group, concerned about the degree of political indifference shown in elections across the nation, has started political socialisation in Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu state, ahead of the upcoming election cycle in cooperation with all political parties.
Because they didn’t trust the system, the majority of Nigerians avoided getting involved in politics and the electioneering process, despite previous attempts.

However, the convener, Hon. Ogoo Ihemezue, said in a statement provided to media that the group had planned a political summit with the theme “War Against Political Apathy.”
“We cannot sit on the fence and complain about the outcome of the process,” he said, citing political indifference as one of the main causes of underdevelopment.
If we decline to participate in the process, we also lack the moral authority to hold our elected officials accountable for their stewardship.
This is the reason we have chosen to hold this programme in advance of upcoming elections in an effort to raise people’s awareness of politics.
“All of the political parties, stakeholders, and the people will be more peaceful and united when we are all politically aware.”
The first in the series, he continued, would take place on December 2, 2023, at the Customary Court in Inyi.
Ihemezue pleaded with every citizen to uphold the system by carrying out their responsibilities.
