#EndBadGovernance Protests: Governorship Candidate Detained
A governorship candidate has been arrested in connection with the #EndBadGovernance protests, leading to widespread public attention.
On Saturday, in the capital of Ondo State – Akure, there were several arrests made during the #EndBadGovernance protests which have been ongoing for ten days.
Kunle Ajayi, the governorship hopeful for African Action Congress (AAC) in an upcoming state election, was among those who were arrested.
Patrick Owolabi, Oluwatobi Akinkuotu, Kolawole Kumuyi and Olalekan Oladehinde are among the protestors who have been detained.
According to reports, the protesters gathered at the NEPA roundabout before being disbanded by state police. Despite this intervention, they opted to persist on-site and consequently faced detention.
Tope Temokun, the protester, condemned the police’s actions and claimed that there was no legitimate reason for arresting anyone as their protest remained peaceful. He accused them of using excessive force and unwarranted aggression.

Temokun mentioned that the Take It Back movement had informed law enforcement about their demonstration and asked for security measures.
According to reports, the NEPA roundabout saw a peaceful demonstration with participants initially behaving in an organized manner.
Temokun claimed that the police incited an arrest by instructing demonstrators to relocate to Arcade. He denounced this as a duplicitous strategy aimed at segregating and apprehending them, which could undermine public faith in law enforcement.
Official confirmation of the arrests is still pending from Funmi Odunlami, who serves as the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the State Police.
