The court has dismissed charges against #EndBadGovernance protesters, ending the legal battle. Read about the ruling and its impact on the protest movement.
The #EndBadGovernance protesters, as well as the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Department of State Services (DSS) and Chiefs of Army and Defence Staff, have had a legal case against them dismissed by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
17 individuals hailing from different parts of the country filed a case to put an end to the current nationwide protests. Unfortunately, due to inadequate perseverance in pursuing their claims, the court dismissed their lawsuit.

On Thursday, Justice Peter Lifu issued a ruling in the absence of both the 17 plaintiffs and the 26 defendants, who did not show up to court nor have any legal representation.
Although the case was set for a hearing, the judge was taken aback by the plaintiffs and their lawyers not being present.
The plaintiffs contended that the demonstrations violated their basic entitlements, such as liberty of movement, individual worthiness, possession rights and growth in economic, social and cultural spheres.
The court was asked by them to mandate the DSS, IGP, military chiefs and AGF to safeguard their rights from protesters through necessary actions.
