Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, stated on Thursday that many first-class graduates are unable to find employment due to a lack of appropriate skills.
Sanusi recounted informing Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he possesses hundreds of Curriculum Vitae, or CVs, from first-class students who do not possess the necessary abilities.
In Port Harcourt, he delivered a speech on Thursday at the ongoing Rivers Economic and Investment Summit.
Human capital is the cornerstone to economic development, according to Sanusi. It is vital to invest in people. Strong education and skill-training initiatives are desperately needed in Rivers State, primarily to prepare the next generation of leaders.

I told the governor today that I’m sure he has hundreds of resumes from young people who have received first-class degrees, just like I have.
“Unfortunately, because they lack the necessary skills for this economy, they are unable to take any formal employment action.”
The governor’s efforts to create a new course for the state’s development and prosperity were praised by the recently reinstated Emir of Kano.
Sanusi claimed that although Rivers was an oil-rich state, its natural resources were insufficient to alter the state’s fortunes, but that this could be accomplished with deliberate leadership.
