The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has called for an urgent security meeting in response to the increasing insecurity that is currently affecting the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. During a public event, Wike reassured the residents of FCT about their safety and emphasized that the government is actively working to provide the necessary support to security agencies in order to address the issue of insecurity.

The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies in the FCT, officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional rulers. Wike also cautioned the area council chairmen to fulfill their responsibilities at the local level.

Recent weeks have witnessed bandit attacks in various parts of the FCT, resulting in the abduction of residents from their homes.

The situation escalated when some residents, including a 13-year-old secondary school student, were killed due to their inability to meet the ransom payment deadline.
