Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri says that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) put limits on how much cash people could withdraw to hurt politicians.
Fintiri made sure to say on Friday that CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele’s plan was aimed at the political elite.
In response to the new CBN policy, Fintiri claimed that the move, which came soon after Emefiele’s unsuccessful excursion into politics, could only have been retaliatory. Fintiri was in Kala’a, a town in the Hong local government area, to talk about his campaign for governor in 2023.
“What causes poverty to breed?” economic regulations. Take a look at the Central Bank’s impending policy change, which would further plunge the nation into poverty. Nobody is advocating against a cashless economy, but it should be done gradually and methodically.
As Fintiri put it, “We shouldn’t act as though certain people wanted to be politicians but were denied the chance, so they use their office to punish the politicians.”
Fintiri told the owners of important national institutions to always act in the best interest of the whole country. He seemed to really believe that the CBN was using its monetary policy to hurt some people on purpose.
In his speech at Ka’ala, the governor called for true federalism. Earlier on Thursday, he also asked the right people to change the constitution to allow a true federation in which the states make their own money and have full control over it.
