Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was supposed to be charged with violating procurement laws and contract inflation, but there are strong signs that the case has been postponed indefinitely.

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did not list the arraignment scheduled for Wednesday on a 20-count complaint.

According to information obtained by OBASANJO NEWS24 within the courtroom, the imprisoned CBN Chief requested that the arraignment be postponed.

Emefiele and his co-accused Saadat Yaro have chosen a plea bargain policy to settle with the Federal Government, according to reliable sources who spoke to our correspondent.

The change in the arraignment was verified by Kehinde Akinlolu, senior advocate of Nigeria and attorney for Emefiele.

The Chief Judge, Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf, may, he added, possibly set a new date.

The Department of State Services, or DSS, agents who used to accompany him to court as well as his legal team were not present at the time this report was written.

On other causes listed by the court, however, the court has started the process.
