The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bauchi State started distributing sensitive materials to the state’s 20 local government areas on Thursday in preparation for the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday. This ensures that the materials will arrive in good time.

Mohammad Bulama Nura, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) for Bauchi State, said during the inspection of the materials at the state secretariat of the commission that the materials, which included ballot papers and result forms among others, were received Thursday morning from the state branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for later distribution to the local government areas.

In order to distribute our sensitive materials to the 20 LGA offices run by our electoral officials, we have moved our sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria head office to the INEC state office, as you can see from the background, Nura told the media.

He stated that the materials would be transferred to the local government regions upon confirmation by party leaders, election monitors, and security personnel.

According to the REC, the commission had hired buses to transport the goods to the local government districts, demonstrating its commitment to prompt delivery of the materials to their various locations.

According to Obasanjonews24, security personnel from the Directorate of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were all present in large numbers at the INEC state office throughout the distribution.

Those involved in the screening and distribution of the documents included representatives from the 18 political parties running in the general elections of 2023.

Obasanjonews24 discovered that remote parts of the state, such as Zaki LGA, were the first to leave the electoral body’s state headquarters with security escorts.
