He pledged to sue the PDP if the organization disciplined him for backing Tinubu in the most recent elections.
Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has admitted that he worked against Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of his party, in the February 25, 2023 election.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chieftain Fayose admitted that he had “100%” lobbied against Atiku because the PDP “has not been fair to me.”
The PDP stalwart said he contributed to Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, winning the most recent general election in Ekiti.
“I didn’t work for PDP in the most recent election. On the Sunday Politics program on Channels Television, he declared, “I cannot work for two people at the same time.
“In actuality, I was Asiwaju’s (Tinubu’s) employee. He comes from a good family in the South-West. The South’s time has come.
PDP Disciplined My Son And I
On Thursday, July 6, 2023, Fayose met with the President in Aso Villa in Abuja. He conveyed his displeasure with the PDP, complaining that it had suspended him and his son, Oluwajomiloju, despite the fact that he had “suffered tremendously for PDP.”
“The same PDP took my son, suspended my son, expelled my son, and suspended me because I stated it was the turn of the South. For a man who has endured so much for the PDP?” he questioned.
The former governor, who is a part of the PDP’s G5 or Integrity collection, a collection of disgruntled PDP members, claimed that his party had played political games with Nigerians by endorsing Atiku, an ex-vice president from the north-eastern state of Adamawa.
A Southern Nigerian, according to Fayose, ought to lead the nation when the two terms of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also from the North, are up.
Legal Danger
He pledged to sue the PDP if the organization disciplined him for backing Tinubu in the most recent elections.
The former governor said, “If PDP take action against me, I will take them to court.” If someone attempts to silence me, I will say even more.
The President’s latest visit, according to Fayose, was unrelated to his legal dispute with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he added. Regarding the case, which has lasted five years, he added, “Tinubu has no power to stop EFCC trial.”
The PDP stalwart declared he wouldn’t accept the President’s offer of any ministerial job. He encouraged Tinubu to allocate 40% of his cabinet members to persons over the age of 60 and 70%, 30% to women, and 30% to children and young adults.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, defeated Atiku in Fayose’s Ekiti State in the 2023 presidential election. In the state’s 16 Local Government Areas, Tinubu won.
Out of Nigeria’s 36 states, Tinubu also triumphed in 11 additional states. He received 8,794,726 votes in total, about two million more than Atiku (6,984,520 votes) and Peter Obi (6,101,533 votes), the Labour Party (LP) candidate.
