Discover how three contractors and one other individual tragically lost their lives at a border facility. The Immigration Service shares shocking details about the incident amid ongoing elections.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) reports that suspected terrorists attacked its facility at the Kangiwa border in Kebbi State, resulting in four fatalities.

This information was included in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Kenneth Udo, the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) and Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO).

Udo reported that the attack took place at approximately 7:20 PM on Friday, January 10, leading to the deaths of a local watchman and three contractors.

However, he offered his condolences to the victims’ families and assured the public that efforts were in progress, working alongside partner agencies, to locate and bring those responsible to justice.

He also reaffirmed the NIS’s steadfast commitment to fulfilling its primary mission of securing the nation’s borders and improving national security.

We regret to inform you of a recent attack by a suspected terrorist group targeting our facilities and contractors at the Kangiwa border in the Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack resulted in the deaths of four people, including a local watchman and three contractors.

“We also noted significant damage to our security facilities. Fortunately, no immigration officers lost their lives in the attack.”

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who have passed away. We are actively collaborating with partner agencies to identify and capture those responsible for these terrible acts, so they can be brought to justice.

“The service remains steadfast and unwavering in fulfilling its primary mission of border security, aligning with the objective of ensuring national safety,” he said.
