The electoral chief also advised the transporters to convey INEC employees impartially and without bias to and from the polling places.
The country’s present fuel shortage, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), may have an impact on the logistics for the general elections on February 25 and March 11.
Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja during a consultative meeting with several transport unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO).

Yakubu addressed the union leaders, saying, “The commission shares your concern about the gasoline situation in the country and its impact on transportation on election day.”
“The truth is that a lack of goods availability could jeopardise our arrangement.”
The commission will meet with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited this afternoon to discuss possible solutions.
The electoral chief also advised the transporters to convey INEC employees impartially and without bias to and from the polling places.
All INEC and adhoc personnel must not be transferred outside of their local government areas, he added, adding that interstate travel will not be permitted.
