Election in Anambra: Man claims we fixed the results to benefit Soludo
Anthony Onuoha, a suspect who was detained by the Ebonyi State police command on Thursday over an alleged car theft, admitted to working with over 30 election riggers to influence the outcome of the Anambra election last year in favor of Prof. Charles Soludo.
In a parade of suspects, Onuoha said that they had been paid by a man named Uche General to rig the governorship election in favor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA.
The suspect said that after the election, they were handed a car and 50,000 naira.
He claims: “In November of last year, a car was handed to me following governor Soludo’s election because I was one of the 30 people that were confined in one location to work for APGA. Following the election, a car and 50,000 naira were promised to us.
“The automobile, not the $50,000 salary, was what drew me to work with APGA. That November, I traveled to Anambra State after being chosen by a man named Mr. Uche General, whose last name I do not recall. The section was under the direction of Uche General.
“The part I played there was that on election day, we were held at Awka North to thumbprint ballots. We promised that at the conclusion of the day, we would be given a car and 50,000 naira, which they did. We thumb-printed for APGA governorship candidate Charles Soludo.
“Out of the more than thirty people hired for the work, nine of us received a car. They gave me this automobile and the 50,000 naira to fill it up, he claimed.
The governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, responded quickly, telling Obasanjonews24 that the suspect, Onuoha, must face the consequences of his actions. He made this statement through his chief press secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime.
