President Bola Tinubu made his first appearance at the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Executive Council meeting since taking office on Thursday, and he deemed the election that put him in office as the most credible in Nigerian history.
Despite ongoing legal disputes in the courts contesting the procedure, Tinubu stated he is still firmly convinced.
“Yes, we are facing legal challenges, but I think this is the most legitimate election in Nigeria,” he added. Therefore, we should be proud of ourselves. As a democrat, I believe that people who cannot rejoice in triumph because of the outcomes of a free and fair election should not.
Speaking on the party’s operations, Tinubu said the organisation has a duty to foster cohesion, stability, and love among its members. Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano, is the party’s chairman.
Being elected to office, in his words, is a chance to “fulfil your dreams and the dreams of our founding fathers.”
The President also acknowledged the necessity to address governance concerns head-on.
“We are tackling it head-on; we have to grease and oil the wheel, and we are. I have sent the Senate ministerial lists for review and approval. The government of the people, for the people, and by the people is currently being fully established.
“You haven’t been able to see me, but I can see a lot of my pals here. To bring me here, you all struggled for it. You won’t see me as frequently as you’d like because of governance difficulties, he said.
He continued, stating that the difficulties Nigeria is facing were well covered in his programme.
He declared that his government is prepared to restructure the nation’s economic system and added, “Our policies are for the people, not to punish the people.”
Additionally, Tinubu briefly strayed into talk about world politics. I sent signals to Europe and America yesterday,” he declared. I pose the following question to our partners: How will you deal with a barking dog, a crazy dog, and stop a barking dog from eating off your enemy’s plate? The continent depends on Nigeria, and we are starving. We require assistance, but not at the expense of our pleasure, calm, and joy.
He reminded the party’s leaders that they needed to present a united face and emphasised that control of the party rested with them.
Let’s demonstrate to the rest of the nation that we are working together towards a same goal because if we stray, history won’t pardon us, he remarked.
