In order to ensure that no Nigerian is denied the right to vote, Yakubu gave the people of Nigeria his word.
In the federal constituency of Esan and Igueben in Edo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the election.
At an election briefing on Saturday, INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu made this disclosure.
The absence of a party’s emblem on the ballot papers, in his opinion, was the cause of the suspension.
The election for the federal constituency, according to the electoral chief, will now take place on March 11, along with elections for governor and state assembly.
Yakubu stated, “In a federal constituency in Edo State, we had a problem that we handled yesterday (Friday), involving one of the parties whose acronym is on the score sheet but the logo is not on the vote paper.
“Because the materials are in good condition, a decision was made after consulting with the stakeholders. Hence, we have put the elections for Esan North, Esan South, and Igueben on hold.
“Elections will now take place, with the constituency elections taking place in the following two weeks,” said the election official.
In order to ensure that no Nigerian is denied the right to vote, Yakubu gave the people of Nigeria his word.
Due to the murder of Oyibo Chukwu, a senatorial candidate for the Labour Party (LP), INEC also halted the Enugu East Senatorial District election on Friday.
According to the commission, the party will run in place of the deceased candidate, and the election will now take place on March 11 in the district.
