Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari had given those he referred to as “evil people” permission to use him (Buhari) in a campaign against the political party that had given him the opportunity to serve Nigeria.
He claimed that those who are using the president as a weapon against the APC are doing so because their attempt to compel the party to accept their nominee at the June 2022 primaries failed.
In order to defeat the APC in the upcoming presidential election, the governor bemoaned the large deployment of resources and equipment.
El-Rufai asserted that the villains are using the Federal Government and the President as a handy front to stifle Nigeria’s democracy because they have personally lost out.
After the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) redesign of the N200, N500, and N1000 notes, the governor spoke to the Kaduna people on Thursday amid a shortage of new naira notes.
While they will be valid till April 10, Buhari had already directed that the old N200 notes be put back into circulation.
El-Rufai pointed out that the Buhari administration disobeyed the Supreme Court’s ruling on February 8th by maintaining that the deadline is February 10. He continued, “It is shocking to see the blatant violation of the subsisting and continuing order of the Supreme Court that ALL the old and new notes should continue to be legal tender until it gives judgement in the case filed by the Kaduna State Government along with several others.”

“The address by the President earlier this morning restricting the legal tender status of old notes to merely N200 amounts to blatant disrespect and disobedience of the judgement of February 8th, which was extended further yesterday by the Supreme Court,” he claimed.
“The mistaken conduct of the Attorney General to deceive the President into engaging in this public disobedience of the order of the highest court of the land reveals how eager the policy architects are to produce national turmoil, by exhibiting open disrespect for the judiciary,” the policy architects said.
The Governor remembered that the Federal Government had offered an offer to the agitating governors to accept the circulation of only the N200 notes as a way to avoid court, but they had refused the offer, insisting that the court order must be followed.
He asserted that “these wicked people are eager to stifle our democracy because they have personally lost out, using the Federal Government and the President as convenient shields.
Because they were unable to impose the candidates of their choice, they are massively deploying tools and resources to defeat the political party that provided us with the opportunity to serve the country. Let’s not assist them.
