Ahmad Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, and Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, have swarmed the Supreme Court to observe hearings in a lawsuit brought by their states against the federal government over the cashless policy regime.
Around 8:30 am, the two governors entered the courtroom accompanied by their supporters and senior government officials.
The execution of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Cashless Policy Regime is set to be challenged in court by the Federal Government and three states.
More than 100 Senior Advocates hired by the Federal Government and the three retaliating states have already appeared in court to present the cases of their respective clients as of the time of this publication.
Obasa highlighted that Ondo State has joined forces with the other three states in the legal dispute on the court’s Cause List.
On February 8, a seven-member panel chaired by Justice John Okoro halted the Federal Government’s action in response to an ex-parte application filed by the three northern states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara.
