A retinue of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, other attorneys, and the governors of Kaduna and Kogi states, Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello, respectively, filled the top court, which heard the case on Wednesday, to capacity.
In order to hear the consolidated lawsuits filed by 10 states, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has postponed the case involving the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira swap policy until Wednesday, February 22.

At the most recent hearing, the Court temporarily halted the CBN’s plan to make the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes legal tender by the deadline of February 10.
The lawsuit was filed against the Federal Government and the CBN by the states of Zamfara, Kogi, and Kaduna.
Niger, Kano, Ondo, and Ekiti were among the states that had asked to be included in the lawsuit against the CBN and the federal government.
A seven-person panel led by Justice John Okoro opened the court session.
He said that because the case and its goal have an impact on Nigerians’ suffering, the court shouldn’t lose sight of them.
Moyosore Onigbanjo, the attorney general for Lagos State, submitted an application to join the case as well.
Damian Dodo’s Bayelsa State had also requested to be added to the lawsuit as a respondent. Edo State also requested to be added as a respondent.
