Former Goodluck Jonathan media assistant Reno Omokri has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to ask King Charles III of England for a royal prerogative of mercy for former deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu.
According to Obasanjonews24, a UK court condemned Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months in prison on Friday, while his wife Beatrice and Obinna Obetta received four- and ten-year sentences, respectively.
Omokri encouraged President Buhari to request a royal pardon for Ekweremadu as a parting gift for Nigeria on his Twitter account.
If the president grants the request, he claimed, history will forever remember him.
In his letter, he requested that President Muhammadu Buhari use his secret audience with King Charles III to request that the British king exercise his royal prerogative of mercy for Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
“The President’s gesture to a man who has served Nigeria faithfully and devotedly and who only committed the crime for which he was found guilty out of desperation, as a loving father of a child in need of a kidney transplant, will forever be appreciated and remembered.”
