Ekiti suspends Ikere State Specialist Hospital’s chief physician for flagrant misbehaviour
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Olaolu Olubiyi, of the State Specialist Hospital, Ikere-Ekiti, has been suspended by the Ekiti State Government awaiting an inquiry into claims of serious misconduct made against him.
With immediate effect, the suspended CMD is to transfer his responsibilities to Dr. Akinsipe Catherine Iyabo, Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G).
According to a statement from the State Ministry of Health and Human Services made available to news reporters in Ado-Ekiti, Olubiyi was suspended by the State Hospitals Management Board due to the gravity of a gross misconduct case that was brought against him and which established the fact that he had broken Ekiti Public Service Rules 030301(ii) and 030402(x) prima facie.
In accordance with the requirements of the State Public Service Rules, the statement stated that the suspended CMD has been barred from performing his official duties while an investigation is ongoing.
In the statement, Governor Biodun Oyebanji reaffirmed his zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers and emphasised the government’s commitment to rewarding exceptional performance, diligence, and adherence to tasks.
