The distribution of assistive technology resources worth more than N70 million has begun under the direction of Prof. Femi Akinwumi, Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Three state-run special schools and six carefully chosen private special education providers received the materials, which were purchased under the UBEC/SUBEB Special Needs Intervention Programme for 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Speaking at the event in the state capital of Ado-Ekiti, Akinwumi stated that the government would not give up on efforts to mobilise and inform diverse stakeholders so as to secure their commitment and participation in the delivery of special education.

Akinwumi, who was represented by Mr. Emmanuel Oluwayemi, Director of Special Education at SUBEB, said that the collaboration between the state government and UBEC has continued to produce fruitful outcomes. He urged the head teachers of the receiving schools to use the tools and resources wisely.
