The governor’s office would support efforts to ensure the smooth operation of the upcoming enumeration and census, according to Mr. Gold Adedayo, commissioner for youth development.
During a National Population Commission advocacy visit led by Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, the Federal Commissioner who represents the state of Ekiti, he delivered the promise in his office in Ado, Ekiti.
Because the exercise’s goals included establishing demographic data, estimating population size, and assessing employment and housing conditions, he emphasised that it would aid in the equal distribution of resources.
The Commissioner, who pledged that the current administration would not stop short in its efforts to advance youth issues, said the ministry had been in contact with a number of youth organisations, including their umbrella group, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), to discuss ways to include them in governmental activities.
In order to support young people’s growth and help them realise their potential as employers of labour as well as being constructively engaged and valuable to themselves, he also revealed areas where international collaboration is needed.
The youth would be required to participate in policymaking, according to Adedayo, who underlined that youth development is one of the government of Biodun Oyebanji’s pillars.
Earlier, the governor was thanked by the Federal Commissioner of NPC, Mr. Deji Ajayi, for designating the commissioner to oversee youth development in the state.
Stressing that youth make up a larger portion of the Nigerian population, he stated that the meeting’s goal is to include youth in the country’s affairs.
He said that for the census, youngsters made up roughly 80% of the population and added that training in information and communications technology (ICT) was also provided to improve their participation.
