The remaining eight abducted students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, have been freed, according to a statement released by the Kogi government.
The news was made in a statement on Sunday in Lokoja by Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi Commissioner for Information and Communications.
Fanwo stated that procedures were being put in place to make Kogi safer for everyone, and that Governor Ahmed Ododo had directed full support towards the recuperation of the pupils and their parents.
“The administration would like to convey its sincere appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for spearheading the mobilisation of resources to guarantee the release of the abducted students.

We also express our gratitude to the National Security Advisor for his unwavering dedication to both the State’s overall security and the students’ release.
The governor expressed gratitude to all of the security chiefs, the inspector general of police, the director general of DSS, and all military personnel—including pilots—for their tireless efforts in helping us reunite the abducted kids with their families.
Fanwo stated, “We also greatly appreciate the efforts of the Kogi State Command of all the security agencies, Police, DSS, NSCDC, and our local hunters for their contributions towards this feat.”
The governor also sent his sincere gratitude to his counterpart in Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahmam AbdulRazak, for his individual dedication, collaboration, and assistance in making the operation that resulted in the recovery of the remaining abducted kids a success.
