Eight Nigerian-Americans won in the US midterm elections
In the US midterm elections, eight Nigerian-American legislators gained seats in the legislature.
Georgia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and the District of Columbia all saw their candidates win seats (DC).
The awardees and their positions were announced by the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC).
Both Segun Adeyina and Gabe Okoye won elections for Georgia State Representative in Districts 102 and 110, respectively.
Both Tish Naghise and Phil Olaleye won seats as state representatives for Georgia’s Districts 68 and 59, respectively.
Oye Owolewa is a member of the United States House of Representatives (Shadow Representative) in Washington, D.C., and Carol Kazeem is a state representative for Pennsylvania’s District 159.
Esther Agbaje was returned as the state representative for Minnesota’s District 59B, while Solomon Adesanya is now the district 43 state representative for Georgia.
The lawmakers have received praise from the federal government for their accomplishments.
