The secret police declared that it would keep working with sister organizations to thwart criminals’ plans.
In order to prevent attacks on religious and recreational facilities before and during the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations, the Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a warning.
This was said in a statement provided to Channels Television on Thursday by the secret police spokesperson, Peter Afunanya.
The DSS also asked owners and users of public spaces, like as marketplaces and malls, to exercise caution and alert the appropriate security agencies to any suspicious activity or people.
The Service declared that it would keep working with sister organizations to conduct the necessary proactive drills to thwart criminals’ plans.
A joint security force made up of the DSS, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force conducted operations in the states of Nasarawa and Kogi, neutralizing and apprehending some criminals, according to the statement.
Afunanya claims that on June 19, 2023, the team stopped suspected gunrunner Abubakar Muhammad, also known as Abu Direba, on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway in the Nasarawa State local government area (LGA) of Keffi.
According to the statement, a team stormed Kabir Bala, alias Okwo, a known gang leader and former prison breaker, in his hideout in Ejule, Ofu LGA, Kogi state, early on Thursday.
Okwo and his gang allegedly engaged the soldiers in a gunfight during which Okwo was neutralized and the others fled the scene.
