According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has promised incoming President Bola Tinubu of Egypt’s continued support in its relations with Nigeria.
“His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, extends his sincere congratulations to the people and the Government of Nigeria on the conclusion of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, which represented a crucial step towards the consolidation of democracy in sisterly Nigeria.”
El-Sisi expressed his desire for the two nations to continue cooperating in order to fulfil both their own citizens’ objectives as well as those of the entire African Continent in terms of more stability and prosperity.

Since 1961, when diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in recognition of the outstanding relationship between the late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel-Nasser and the first Prime Minister of Nigeria, Abubakar Balewa, relations between Egypt and Nigeria have been cordial and friendly.
The leaders of the two nations decided to work together to advance bilateral cooperation, continue to promote the independence of African states, and continue to cooperate on topics of shared interest. (NAN)
