In his speech at the UN General Assembly, the Egyptian Foreign Minister called for African and Arab countries to gain permanent seats on the UN Security Council.
“We cannot accept that African and Arab countries still do not have permanent representation on the Security Council and do not enjoy the privileges that come with it,” Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatti said.

He added, “We support the Sirte Declaration and the Ezulwini Agreement to correct the historical injustice imposed on the African continent.”
Abdelbati also called for a ceasefire in Gaza as the conflict soon enters its 12th month, stressing: “The government’s priority is to end the fighting.
He also called for the immediate provision of medical and humanitarian assistance to civilians in the exclave as the humanitarian situation there is becoming increasingly dire.
