Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoyen believes his team can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their poor performance in the qualifiers.

The three-time African champions are second-bottom in their group with three points from four matches.

Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic are tied at the top of the group with seven points from as many matches.

Eguavoyen believes the Super Eagles can still make up for a weak qualifying round.

But the 58-year-old said his players need to be mentally strong to achieve their goal.

“Nigeria need to think positively about qualifying for the World Cup,” Eguavoyen told Brilla FM.

“We have to approach every game like it’s a cup final and even if we’re 1-0 down, if we win the remaining games we have a great chance.”
