Egbetokun’s IGP is confirmed by Police Council

The National Police Council has confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

On June 19, President Bola Tinubu named Egbetokun, a deputy inspector-general of police (DIG), as the acting IGP while the police council confirmed his appointment.

The police council, which is presided over by the president and consists of the 36 governors, the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), and the chairman of the police service commission (PSC), confirmed Egbetokun on Tuesday.

Following the meeting, Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam informed State House media of Egbetokun’s confirmation as IGP.

He emphasised Egbetokun’s outstanding international exposure and curriculum vitae.
