The entire declaration is as follows:

THE EFCC’S NEW CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY ARE APPOINTED BY PRESIDENT TINUBU

According to the authority granted to President Bola Tinubu by section 2 (3) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004, which states that “the Chairman and members of the Commission, other than ex-officio members, shall be appointed by the President,” President Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede to serve as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for a term that is initially renewable for four years.

Legal professional Mr. Ola Olukoyede has more than twenty-two (22) years of experience as a regulatory compliance consultant and expert in fraud management and corporate intelligence. He previously worked as the Executive Chairman’s Chief of Staff from 2016 to 2018 and the Commission’s Secretary from 2018 to 2023, giving him substantial knowledge with EFCC operations. He satisfies the legal prerequisite for appointment as the EFCC Chairman as a result.

The nomination of Mr. Olukoyede comes in response to Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the EFCC’s suspended Executive Chairman, resigning from his position.
