Akinduro has accused the EFCC of violating his fundamental human rights after being declared wanted, alleging that the agency’s actions were unjust and calling for legal redress.
Henry Akinduro, one of the suspects recently sought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged financial fraud, has accused the commission of violating his fundamental human rights.
Akinduro mentioned that he is contesting the EFCC’s decision to declare him wanted.
OBASANJONEWS notes that the EFCC recently issued a wanted notice for Akinduro, CEO of Total Grace Group Limited, due to allegations of fraud against him.
In a suit submitted to the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, Akinduro stated that he was declared wanted by the anti-corruption agency without judicial intervention, adherence to constitutional protections, or obtaining a court order.
In a statement released through his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, Akinduro asserted that the fraud allegation against him is unfounded and driven by ulterior motives.
In a statement provided to OBASANJONEWS on Thursday, Ojo contended that the petition against his client was merely an effort to criminalize a contractual dispute arising from a business arrangement with Mr. Femi Olushakin.
He mentioned that the issue was already being addressed by the courts when the EFCC announced Akinduro as a wanted individual.
Ojo asserted that the EFCC’s statement proclaiming his client as wanted likely caused significant worry for Akinduro, along with his friends and business associates.
