EFCC Uncovers Alleged Yahoo Academy in Benin, Arrests 25 Suspects

The EFCC has uncovered an alleged Yahoo Academy in Benin City, arresting 25 individuals suspected of cybercrime training. Investigations are ongoing.

Operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 25 individuals suspected of being internet fraudsters at an alleged cybercrime training center in Benin City, Edo State.

The commission stated on Friday that the suspects were arrested a day earlier, on Thursday.

The EFCC stated that the suspects were apprehended at their hideout following reliable intelligence, which suggested that the apartment was being used as a Yahoo academy or training center for internet fraud and other fraudulent activities.

Recovered items from the suspects comprise six luxury cars, as well as laptops and phones.

“The statement added that the suspects will be brought to court once the investigations are complete.”
