The former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, is scheduled to appear before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, on Thursday, as announced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Sirika, who served as a minister during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, will face a six-count amended charge related to allegations of abuse of office amounting to N2.7 billion.

Alongside Sirika, three others, including his daughter Fatima, Jalal Hamma, and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd., will also be arraigned in court for their involvement in the financial malfeasance under investigation by the EFCC.

The EFCC’s probe into the fraudulent contracts awarded during Sirika’s tenure led to his detention in Abuja on April 23. He was questioned and subsequently detained at the Formella Street, Wuse 2 Zonal office of the Commission.

A source within the EFCC revealed that Sirika had been cooperating with investigators regarding the alleged contract frauds, which were carried out while he was in office. The former minister had previously met with investigators before his detention as part of the ongoing investigation.
