Personnel from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been dispatched to observe the governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States on Saturday.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the deployment’s goal was to stop politicians and their operatives from purchasing votes during the electoral process.

According to Oyewale, the exercise was a component of the commission’s effort to stop electoral fraud and related financial crimes.

“Any voter incitement through vote buying, vote selling, and other electoral process manipulations at variance with the Electoral Act is to be addressed by the monitoring operations,” he stated.

According to Oyewale, the exercise was implemented as a part of the commission’s efforts to purge corrupt activities from the country’s electoral system.

He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to making sure that unethical behaviour was excluded from the nation’s election process.
