The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says that nearly N30 billion has been recovered from Ahmed Idris, the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) who was fired.

At a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the head of the anti-corruption agency, talked about the most important things the Commission will do in 2022.

From January to December 2022, the anti-graft agency also recovered N134,335,759,574.25, $121,769,076.30, £21,020.00, €156,925.00, 21,350.00, and CFA $300,000, among other amounts.

He also said that more than 3,615 convictions were made during the same time period, which showed that the administration was serious about fighting corruption.

He said that after the nationwide auction of seized vehicles, about 150 homes would be sold to people who were interested.

Once the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCMUL) was fully set up, Bawa said it would be hard to wash money in the country.

Remember that the EFCC is suing AGF Idris for an alleged N109 billion fraud.
