EFCC grills Ogun State officials in connection with allegations of financial misconduct, intensifying scrutiny.
An ongoing investigation is the subject of this disclosure by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity.
According to Oyewale, “Certain state government officials were invited for a discussion regarding an ongoing inquiry and have since returned. Additionally, no one was taken into custody.”
Oyewale’s investigation has been connected to a petition by Wale Adedayo, the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area. In his petition, Adedayo alleged that Governor Dapo Abiodun misappropriated about N10.8 billion reserved for 20 local governments in the state.

His claims were made public after he sent a letter detailing them to Former Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba which led to his impeachment and subsequent trial on charges of defamation and false allegations against Governor Abiodun – although Oyewale did not disclose what specific aspects are being probed during this investigation process .
Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Abiodun, was reached for comment regarding the allegations. He conveyed doubt about their validity by insinuating that a summons from EFCC does not automatically equate guilt.
An anonymous government official confirmed that five state officials were questioned by the EFCC regarding their management of the state’s finances. In order to verify their statements, it is anticipated that the invited officials will have to submit additional documentation for closer inspection by EFCC personnel.
Adedayo conveyed his certainty that the EFCC’s inquiry would uncover the reality. He remarked, “Falsehood can journey far distances but veracity will soon catch up with it.” Additionally, he noted that authorities had received administrative release while awaiting additional documentation.
