EFCC investigates ex-governors and ex-ministers and recovers N27 billion and $19 million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Agency, or EFCC, declared on Wednesday that some former governors, former ministers, and ministry officials are under investigation as a result of petitions submitted by the agency, and that information regarding their involvement will be made public soon.

The EFCC has recovered N27 billion and $19 million in three different cases it has looked into, according to Mr Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokesman, who also said that the organisation is moving forward in line with his mandate.

“The Commission’s work is moving forward in accordance with our mandate,” Oyewale stated.

A number of public authorities, including previous governors, ministers, and ministry officials, received petitions. On those petitions, I can let you know that inquiries are still being made.

Agricultural Procurement Fraud and colossal fraud involving some Federal Ministry of Power personnel are other matters that are the subject of current investigations.

Through several Bureau de Change operators, money intended for the Mambilla and Zungeru Power projects is stolen. The money used to buy many homes is currently being recouped. The residences are spread across Abuja, Lagos, and Cross River State.

“In a same vein, the Commission has recovered N27, 184, 357, 524, and $19, 084, 419 in three different cases, and we are still recovering.

“Our risk assessment, recovery, and prevention initiatives are being stepped up.”
