The Sokoto Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought Ibrahim Salisu Isah before Justice Bashar Ibrahim Tambuwal of the Sokoto State High Court for arraignment on a single charge of criminal breach of trust involving N7.1 million, as reported by the EFCC’s official page.

The charge against Isah stated that he allegedly misappropriated the sum of N7,110,000 entrusted to him by Buhari Hammani Gumbi in November 2022 in Sokoto to purchase and deliver 1,800 bags of BUA cement at a rate of N3,950 per bag, thereby violating the terms of the trust and committing the offense of criminal breach of trust under the Sokoto State Penal Code Law.
Isah pleaded not guilty to the charge, prompting the prosecution counsel, S.H Sa’ad, to request a trial date, while the defense counsel, Shamsu Dauda, sought bail for the accused.
Sa’ad objected to the oral bail application, emphasizing the need for a formal affidavit for the prosecution to respond, leading Justice Tambuwal to schedule the hearing for April 23, 2024, and order a formal bail application, with the defendant remanded in the custody of the Correctional services.
