EFCC Arrests 46 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Delta

The EFCC has arrested 46 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation conducted in Delta State, continuing its crackdown on cybercrime.

46 individuals suspected of internet fraud were arrested by officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a sting operation conducted in Osubi and Ugolo within the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Southern Nigeria.

SaharaReporters received confirmation from a reliable source that the operation occurred on Sunday in multiple hotels and apartments.

The EFCC officials focused on particular areas where they suspected scam artists were gathering, resulting in numerous apprehensions of alleged scammers as well as hotel patrons.

The Cletano Hotel, Fairview Apartments, Bright V Apartments, Luxe Mirage Hotel and 10/10 Apartments were reportedly raided as per the source.

On August 8, 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate operatives arrested 46 individuals suspected of internet-related fraud in Warri, Delta State.

This operation was confirmed by Dele Oyewale, who serves as the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity. The suspects were apprehended based on credible intelligence regarding their illicit activities at multiple locations throughout Warri.

Several items, including 13 exotic cars, laptops and mobile phones believed to be connected to the alleged fraudulent activities were recovered by EFCC during the operation.

Oyewale emphasized the EFCC’s determination to combat financial crimes and uphold justice by declaring that once investigations are complete, the suspects will be brought before a court of law.
